one of the best of Clive Cussler I've read. Plenty of action. You always learn something new. I do like the way he researches his stories. This old lady like to get on his ship and escape to a wild adventure in other parts of the world.

This one the bad guy cult are trying to reduce the world population for their own benifit. The crew of the Oregon and Juan Carillo are fun to be with and are magnificent in their abilities. Wahoo ! A wild ride !!

Another action-packed thriller from Cussler! I always enjoy Cussler's novels and this was no exception. I got drawn into the story from the beginning with the opening sequence of the downed Nazi reconnaissance plane and what appeared to be the discovery of Noah's Ark on a glacier in Norway. It took quite a while into the story for this to tie into the rest of the story but as usual Cussler tied all the loose threads together. The premise of the book was somewhat similar to the last James Rollins novel I read - The Judas Strain - with a deadly virus or plague as the backdrop of the novel. Some of the other details were quite fascinating including the Responsivist group and their plans to reduce global overpopulation, the Japanese Unit 731 which I found was a real biological warfare unit and worse than described in the novel, and the Stalin's Fist weapon. This is the second Oregon Files novel I have read (Skeleton Coast was the first) and I really enjoy the Juan Cabrillo character and his group - almost as much as Dirk Pitt.

For four novels, Clive Cussler has charted the exploits of the Oregon, a covert ship completely dilapidated on the outside but, on the inside, packed with sophisticated weaponry and intelligence-gathering equipment. Captained by the rakish, one-legged Juan Cabrillo and manned by a crew of former military and spy personnel, it is a private enterprise, available for any government agency that can afford itâ"and now Cussler sends the Oregon on its most extraordinary mission yet.

The crew has just completed a top secret mission against Iran in the Persian Gulf, when they come across a cruise ship adrift in the sea. Hundreds of bodies litter its deck, and as Cabrillo tries to determine what happened, explosions rack the length of the ship. Barely able to escape with his own life and that of the liner's sole survivor, Cabrillo finds himself plunged into a mystery as intricateâ"and as perilousâ"as any he has ever known, and pitted against a cult with monstrously lethal plans for the human race ... plans he may already be too late to stop.

This book dragged in a few places, but took up the 6 hours I had to spend on a plane and in the airport one day. I always enjoy Cussler's work when I need to escape from the every day tedium.

This is the 5th book of the series. I liked the others better but still gave this one 4 stars. Sometimes this series gets into too much technical details of which I have trouble following so it tends to get boring for me. Otherwise these books have lots of action and are very entertaining. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and highly recommend this series to those who love adventure stories.

As always, Clive Cussler never disappoints. Another can't put down book. I wonder how he does it every time, but I give thanks that he does!!
