This is a beautifully written book. The problem for me was the pacing. Three individually interesting stories eventually intertwine to reveal connections between the characters. However, these connections come a bit late. I would have preferred a longer book in which all three stories are more fleshed out, or for the stories to come together sooner. As it was, the ending felt somewhat abrupt.

Otherwise this is a pleasant read, and is sure to appeal to fans of food-related stories.

I loved this book. It just made me feel good as I was reading. I loved the people, the setting's, the era's and gradual progression of time. It was a happy & sad read, both being balanced out by the other. It was about dreams accomplished, friendships, love, honesty & faith in oneself. I found this a beautiful read.

This is her third novel and my favorite. Every once in awhile you find a book that is so wonderful that you are captivated by it. This was one of those books. The characters are complex and flawed, yet you come to know and love them. I liked the way that she links the characters to each other as the story develops. It's a hauntingly beautiful story that won't disappoint.
