No Place To Run is the first book I've ever read by Maya Banks. This is a fantastic book. Although it is second in the series I was still able to keep up. The story centers around Sam Kelly, who is a member of a special ops team called the KGI. He, along with his five brothers, carry out dangerous missions that constantly have them living on the edge. While conducting a dangerous mission in Mexico, Sam meets sexy waitress Sophie. They embark on a hot affair until Sam has to leave on business and Sophie disappears without a trace. What Sam doesn't know is that Sophie is not the innocent she appears...she is the daughter of a high-profile, lethal criminal. Fast forward five months and Sophie shows up five months pregnant after being shot and nearly strangled to death. This is a great action, romance story. The characters are awesome.I like the fact that Sophie was an action girl and a fighter. She didn't just sit back and let the hero save her...she was capable of kicking butt herself. Great story!

I enjoyed this one a lot better than book one (The Darkest Hour). The whole unplanned pregnancy plot isn't a favorite trope and I usually avoid those books. From the moment I started, it was difficult to put down. I really liked Sophie's strength.

Fabulous second novel in the KGI series. Sam and Sophie met when they were both "undercover". Five months later Sam pulls a wounded, unconscious and pregnant Sophie out of the lake near his dock. Neither one has trust in the other.
As the story continues we are reminded that secrets can be dangerous to life and relationships.
Very good read.
