This is a time travel book that takes place during the Revolutionay War. The Hero is a Rebel or Patriot depending on your point of view. The Heroine (Peobe) is a lost soul in the 20th century. She goes to a costume party and is transported back in time Thus beginning her adventure.Adn as in all good Romances she falls in love, faces crisis in love and situation, is saved and saves the hero and eventually lives happily ever after.

THe book was different than I was expecting but I enjoyed it very much. Personally I would have liked a bit more history in the context of the book. The intimate scenes were a bit repeatative and one sided. Other than that it was a good read. I was never board.

This is a time-travel historical romance. I really enjoyed this book. It does have a few steamy scenes, albeit between a soon-to-be married then married couple. Great story, hard to put down!

Great writer. And fun that this book includes a bit of sci-fi in with the romance.

You can really tell that this was one of Linda's earlier books but it is still a good one to read. I enjoyed it very much.

This is a novel of time travel into the 18th century and the American Revolution. A story of love between a modern woman and a man from the past.

Time Travel romance set in Revolutionary War America. I enjoyed it. The only problem I had with it is that I never really connected to the characters - never really felt myself caring what happened. A shame because it had a lot of potential, but still a good STORY.

Divorced and unemployed, even abandoned by her dog, Phoebe Turlow hopes that a weekend on Paradise Island will help her forget her problems. But when she arrives at the historic hotel, she feels as if she's been there before. While preparing for a costume party, Phoebe steps into an elevator and arrives in the year 1780. She has no idea why she's there or even how, but there's no doubt she's travelled through time when she comes face to face with the notorious pirate Duncan Rourke. Thinking that Phoebe must be a British spy, Duncan doesn't understand the strange way she talks or believe anything she says. Yet, she's carrying things that couldn't possibly come from his time. When she tells him that the Continental Army will defeat the Tories and win the American Revolution, he wants to believe her. But can she actually be from the future? Phoebe knows that she's from a different time, but the past seems so familiar to her. A wise old woman tells her she belongs with Duncan, to be his wife and give him children. In her heart, it's what she wants a man who will love her like no other ever has and a family she can cherish. But Duncan is a pirate and the British want to hang him. He has enemies everywhere, even in his own house. In a trip through time Phoebe and Duncan discover a love that was meant to last forever. But their future is uncertain and their lives are in danger. To love Duncan would be dangerous, but Phoebe doesn't have a choice. Her destiny is to be with Duncan, no matter what the history books say.

Not only do you have a swashbuckling adventure in this book but you have a pirate trying to adjust to the modern world. Its an story that takes your through time..and back again..and more then once. I should note that I have the 1995 novel and so the cover is different then above and of course the book has bends in the spine and so forth from being well read over the years.

Phoebe Turlow needs to get out of Seattlke and forget about the man she just divorced, her dwindling finances, and the lonely nights that stretch ahead of her. But she can't forsee what awaits her on Paradise Island...
Duncan rourke, known to historians as "the pirate patriot" has been dead for two centuries - or at least he's suposed to be. But when ususpecting Phoebe steps out of a van, into a run-down island hotel, and into his world, neither Phoebe nor her sexy pirate can envision the glorious adventure that is about the sweep them away. They know only that they have found each other, and a grand passion, across the chasm of time...and they fear only the moment when the magic they have discovered may vanish.

This was a lot of fun! Time travelling, pirates, what's not to like? It would make great vacation reading, or anytime reading.

When Phoebe Turlow decides to answer a tacky advertising circular - the kind that announces 'you have won a weekend in the Caribbean!' - she knows it's a ploy to get her to listen to a real estate offer. But she needs to get out of Seattle and forget about her newly ex-husband, her dwindling finances, and the lonely nights that seem to stretch ahead of her into infinity. She can't foresee what really awaits her on Paradise Island. And it definitely isn't a deal on a new condo...Duncan Rourke is known to historians as 'the pirate patriot,' a marauder of the Caribbean who turned against his Tory family to embrace the cause of the American Revolution. He has been dead for two centuries..or at least he's supposed to be, until Phoebe Turlow steps out of a van, into a run-down island hotel, onto a creaky elevator...and into his world. Rourke knows the compellingly beautiful woman with oddly cropped hair and absolutely no sense of a female's place is from a faraway land - only he assumes that the locale is British and Phoebe is a spy. Why else would she be prowling about his wine cellar? The truth is nearly beyond his comprehension: what she is doing is defying all reason and falling in love - unwisely, and much too well - with a handsome rebel with haunted eyes, a tormented soul, and danger all around him. Neither Phoebe nor her pirate can envision the glorious adventure that is about to begin. They understand only that they have found each other, and a grand passion, across the chasm of time...and they fear only the moment when it may vanish again

My book seems to have a different cover, but it is the book Pirates. Maybe a first one out. Anyone who is a Linda Lael Miller fan knows how she writes. I have read most of her books except for the westerns. I do not care for westerns. This one, though, is a good read

Another treasure by LLM. She is a great storyteller. Sometimes even absurd storylines can be the most fun!
