It started out slow, but got very good after a short while. Would recommend it. Kept our interest while driving.
This is not my usual genre, but I thought I'd mix things up a bit. I'm so glad I did! While I've read Michael Crichton before, this was really different for me. There is plenty of action and the author isn't shy about reality when a bullet or knife is used. I loved the descriptions of the area and ocean and the performer/reader of the audio book used great accents. There are surprises here and there and although the ending is expected, it was still good and I was actually sorry to have it end, as I wanted to ride along with Captain Hunter on his ship some more!
Good guy, great privateer and nice presentation though brief historical account of the way politics work in the 17th Century. Hunter triumphs among governmental weasels in the days of Pirates and 1665 rulers of the Seas. Wits and survival skills win over the Jamaican populus. Enjoyed the adventure and liked the central characters.
A great read!
