The best description I can think of is "Thieves' World" lite. This has some amusing moments, but the combination of humor and adventure was not as good as, say, Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams. This was mildly humorous, but it has more potential than substance. The humor didn't quite work for me.

Light, meaningless, mildly amusing, yet readable. Summer reading, for sure.
