I'm an adult and I got this for myself. I wasn't disappointed. It was a good read and I would recommend it to others who enjoy fantasy stories that involve talking animals. :)
Perloo goes on an adventure to stop a war between the Felbarts, the Montmers old enemies. Berwig, however, the late granters son, has other ideas. He started this war to have the tribe support him. He wanted to make himself have ultimate power- to be a dictator, and bring back the old ways of Granters and forget the Montmer freedoms. Perloo, the rightful Granter, it is his job to stop him. However, unwilling bookworm Perloo wants no business in politics. But Perloo must overcome his fears and unwillingness to save the whole Montmer tribe. This book ends in a totally unexpected way.
As usual, Avi has written a book that will hold your interest. The book is exciting enough for a child and well written enough for an adult.

Lots of fun for the whole family. Perloo is a reluctant hero - very similar to you and me.
