My (not so) Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella checks all the boxes of an enjoyable light read. It gives me what I expect. The book also leaves a message about being true to yourself and not believing everything you read on social media. (I know! Shocking, right? Not!) A predictable story, lots of laughs, a little romance, and the beautiful English countryside make this book a lovely escape from daily life.

I wish I didn't have this problem leaving a book unfinished. This one dragged so much for me, could not get me interested in the story. I don't read modern time fiction much and that may be why but I barely made it to Part 2 when it finally picked up a tiny bit when it was more focused on the glamping business and not the London office.
As for the concept of owning the life you actually live and not trying to project a perfect life image to others that was good and I liked her Dad and Biddy. Yet this book was so long and boring for me as shown by the fact it took nearly 2 months to finally read it when I usually can read the equivalent in a day or two.

Few books actually make me "LOL", but this one did. Sophie Kinsella has a knack for putting her characters in situations that are outrageous, yet believable. Katie, "Cat", Brenner is a likable protagonist who ends up in crazy situations as she struggles to find herself. Even though the story is primarily humorous, the characters are complex and add a depth to the story that makes you think about the assumptions we make about others.
