Award winning archaeologists Michael and Kathleen Gear spin avivid and captivating tale around one of the most controversial archaeological discoveries in the world: the Kennewick Man--a Caucasoid male mummy dating back more than 9000 years, found in the Pacific Northwest on the banks of the Columbia River.
A white man in North America more than 9000 years ago? What was he doing there?

*** This book tells a bighearted story of war and peace, love and violence, with a cast of richly drawn characters.

Awesome story! Reading a 'People' book is the closest thing to time travel that I have ever experienced!

I enjoyed this book as much or more than the other books in the First North Americans series by Kathleen and Michael Gear. This one took place in the Pacific Northwest which is where I have lived all of my life. It involves a story about Kennewick man, which caught my attention when he was first found. I think these authors are good at portraying characters who seem real and make you want to find out what happens to them. I had a hard time putting the book down and finished it within a couple of days. If you like the other "People" books I am sure you will also enjoy this one.

Unfortunately, not my favorite in this series. Much less detail on everyday life and the supernatural elements are left unexplained.

An interesting and lovely book about prehistoric peoples of the pacific northwest. If you liked the Clan of the Cave Bear books, you'll like this.
