A very interesting account of the history of Payne's Prairie, from the time of the dinosaurs which never saw Florida because it was under water during that ecological period, to almost today. Since this prairie is less than 10 miles south of where I live, I especially enjoyed it.
The author only made one mistake I caught. He states Abraham Lincoln was elected president in March 1861, when it was actually November 1860. He probably meant the inauguration, but it is still a mistake.
Still, I learned more about many recent (last 150 years) events which I can use in living history events at a local state park.
