It took me awhile to get into this book and was a little wordy compared to the previous book before it.

On the other hand, it picked up at the end and became an entertaining read. Not deep fantasy and it can't hold a candle to R. R. Martin's works, but it was a good beach read. I'll read the final book just to say I finished the triology.

This is the second book in this excellent series. Half way through the first book I ran out and bought the other two because I just didn't want the story to end. This is a great series! Be sure and check out the next book in the series Path of Blood.

I really wanted to like this book. The setting is interesting, she ties in some seldom-touched mythologies - but I found it very disjointed. Not a BAD book, but not great, either.

This is the second book in the series.
A year has passed since Reisil's arrival in Koduteel, the ahalad-kaaslanes' town/academy. Instead of receiving honor and respect, she is met with chill suspicion. The nobility fear her power. Others wish to use her as a pawn. And her fellow ahalad-kaaslane doubt her loyalty, particularly when Reisil's healing magic fails to save the majority of Kodu Riikans who are dying from a deadly plague. Ostracized and powerless, Reisil can not even trust her best friends. But even while she is struggling to heal, she is startled and dismayed to discover that she has developed a frightening new magical talent---for destruction.

I have really enjoyed this author and this series. Very well developed characters.
