While I understand that Holden is a popular author, and while I think she's a much better writer than some of the others out there (her descriptions are incredible), the characters of Mark and Samantha were unlikable, and the situations -- particularly Bella's dinner party in the early going -- were stock. *I* was as bored as Rosie and I just wanted her to leave!

I'm sure I'm the minority review, though. And I'd certainly try other Holden novels.

This was a cute Brit chick-lit about a couple that moves to the country. I enjoy Wendy Holden in general, and this one as well.

This book is Farm Fatale but under what I think is the European title. I ordered this on PBSwap only to realize it after. But it is a great, fun read. Classic Holden.

I like a fun, quirky, mad cap story and this is one. Rosie and her boyfriend move from London to the country. She really wants to move there, he finally agrees because he sees a way to exploit it to move his career ahead and save money. Once they move, the scales are removed from Rosie's eyes about her boyfriend. (She finally sees what everyone else sees).

She tries to make something of the little money pit cottage they bought, but she is having a hard time financially and emotionally. She enjoys the country and starts connecting the with neighbors. Meanwhile, the boyfriend tries to form some sort of alliance with a never-quite-made-it actress who is a schemer. The ending is a good case of everyone getting what they deserve.
