Pastrami Murder is the first in the Darling Deli mystery series. Moira Darling is the owner of Darling's Delicious Delights located in the small town of Maple Creek, Michigan. Moira runs her deli which offers up homemade soups and sandwiches in addition to a selection of organic meats, cheeses and breads with the help of her two assistants Darrin and Danielle, and her daughter Candice a recent college grad.

Things go wrong when her biggest competitor Henry Devou, owner of the Soup Shoppe is found dead, poisoned by a bowl of Moira's soup. Determined to clear her name and save the reputation of her Deli, Moira along with Private Detective David Morris begin to investigate who had it in for the wealthy business owner.

A fun, quick book (doesn't take more than a couple of hours) to pass an afternoon. It was obvious "whodunit" from the introduction of the character, but the soup and sandwich descriptions were enough to keep the pages turning. The storyline leaves enough promise for future installments as the reader will want to know if a romantic relationship evolves for Moira and David.
