Pastor Wade Kendrick is the young, single pastor of a church in Detroit. Nearly every young woman in the church sees herself as a candidate for first lady - that is except for Pearl Lockhart - the director of the youth ministry and youth choir. "The Pastor's Woman" is the second book in the Lockhart Sisters series.

Wade wants a woman who stands by his side as first lady and who carries out the traditional role of a wife in the home. Pearl is seeking a recording contract in the gospel music industry. Pearl and Wade lock horns on nearly every issue - from politics to the clothes she wears to the music she selects for the youth choir. Though Pearl and Wade appear to be opposites, the sparks that fly whenever they are together are a clear indication of their growing attraction for each other.

Before Pearl and Wade can take their relationship to the next level, Wade has to deal with his demons from the past - a secret he's kept from Pearl and the entire congregation. The author does a great job of writing a romance novel about a pastor who "practices what he preaches" by remaining celibate even though he is falling in love with the sassiest woman in his congregation.
