They both are on the side of law and order, but Joanna Brady the small town's sheriff doesn't want any help from the out-of-town detective named Beaumont. To make matters worse, Beaumont doesn't want to be there either. But the two learn they've got to work together if they want to solve the murder of a local artist.
The worst J. A. Jance book is better than most good books! Brady and Beaumont-- what a combo. Very good.
This is a very good book with both Detective Beaumont and Sheriff Brady solving a crime in Bisbee, AZ, where the Sheriff is stationed. I liked both the characters a lot, and have read a previous Beaumont thriller. The characters seemed real to me, and it was fast reading!
Bk 10 in Joanna Brady series. In this complicated case, Sheriff Joanna Brady and Special Investigator J P Beaumont join forces. Another good story worthy of 4 stars.
Another J.P. Beaumont thriller.
Good book.
The dead woman on a cold slab in the Arizona morgue was a talented artist recently arrived from the West Cost. The Washington State Attorney General's office thinks this investigation is too big for a small-town female law officer to handle, so the're sending Sheriff Joanna Brady some unwanted help-a seasoned detective named Beaumont. Sheriff Brady resents his intrusion, and Bisbee, Arizona, with its ghosts and memories, is the last place J.P. Beaumont wants to be. But the twisting desert road they must reluctantly travel together is leading them into a very deadly nest of rattlers. And if they hope to survive, suddenly trust is the only option they have left...
Great read, easy and fun.
Great read, easy and fun.
Adversaries become partners.
A mystery set in the Southwest that will have you guessing 'til the very end!
This lady sheriff knows how to do the job.
I stil don't understand the title, but enjoyed this book. I will go back to read other books in the Brady and in the Beaumont series.
"The best thing about J. A. Jance's books... is the way she can move from an exciting, dangerous scene on one page to a sensitive, personal, touching moment on the next." Chicago Tribune
Sheriff Joanna Brady and detective Beaumont get together in this one...
a devilish page-turner
Good book, really enjoyed this one.

Easy and enjoyable reading; likeable characters and a very fast read.

I've been reading Joanna Brady series books for some time (mostly listening on tape to them), so when this one came around, I listened to it on tape, too. It was my introduction to J.P. Beaumont, the Seattle police detective that Jance writes about in another separate long series of books. I have to say that I'm glad to have met Beau, as they call him. I immediately started looking for tapes of those books. They're on my wish list now. Anyway, this book is a good one, whether you read it or listen to it. A fascinating mystery, great characters, including two strong-minded but admirable police officers who want to do things their own way, and a satisfying investigation make for a great story.
These books are SO good!
Another great Joanna Brady mystery where she teams up with JP Beaumont to solve a murder.
Jance always provides a great page turner! In this mystery she provides a different twist, she brings her two series leads together--Sheriff Joanna Brady and special investigator J.P. Beaumont.
Combines characters from two of Jance's ongoing series -- Sheriff Joanna Brady and J.P. Beaumont.
Beaumont is dispatched from Seattle when a woman murdered in Brady's jurisdiction turns out to have been under a witness protection program overseen by Washington state authorities. There's a bit of clashing before the two settle down to work together and the somewhat overplotted situation is resolved by the convenient death of the major bad guy, which only momentarily seems to leave some questions unanswered.
Like most of the Brady series, the real attraction of the plot is watching the main character navigate a complicated personal life while treading a non-traditional career path. There's a brief, distracting, and totally unnecessary what-if scene between Brady and Beaumont which comes out of nowhere and then goes back to the same place over the space of just a few pages, but it's enough to distract and detract. Better each of these characters should remain in their own wheelhouse and do their own things, separately.

Newest in series. Combines two of her favorite characters.
oh, man, I had already read this one! But I read it again anyway. It's really good. J A Jance has a few different series; in this book sheriff Joanna Brady meets and works on a case with JP Beaumont. It's interestin to read because her Joanna Brady books are written in 3rd person and her JP Beaumont books are written in 1st person. When she switches in various chapters the point of view switches, too.
If you like the author you will like this book.
Partner in Crime is a very good book written in true suspense style! J.A. Jance is a master at creating a twisting plot that keeps you guessing right to the very end.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I love the Joanna Brady series and the JP Beaumont series. I thought the coming together of the two characters would be a disaster. Ms Jance handled it beautifully! Very Good!
Another excellent Joanna Brady book, but what makes this one unique is J.P. Beaumont is sent down to Arizona from Washington to "help" with Sheriff Brady's investigation into a suspicious death of an artist. Sparks fly when he shows up, but in the end, the crime is solved and friendships (?) are made. A few good twists throughout, which makes this a nice read. If you're not familiar with Special Investigator Beaumont, he is the main character in another J.A. Jance series - and a great one at that, so bringing these two crime solvers together was a natural.
I love this series of books!
