After being dissapointed with the last few star wars films and having read a few books I didn't really care that much for I was very satisfied and fulfilled after reading this. Its got all the star wars staples, space battles, love story, adventure, comedy, it's just a very enjoyable experiance. Interesting backstory for one of Star Wars most entertaining scoundrels. Can't wait to read the next two, No Scruffy looking nerf hearders here! I know...I know.... "who's scruffy lookin?"

Okay-- I admit it-- I enjoy the Star Wars books far more than the damned movies-- and much more than most scifi series out there.
Boba Fett forever! This book is the early life of Solo-- Han Solo, shaken, not whirred.....

On principle, I didn't like this book, because I'm not big on Han through Episode V, however if you like Han Solo, you'll enjoy delving into his past.

Before the Star WArs movies, before the titanic battles that freed the galaxy from the iron grip of the Empire, here is the never-before-told sotry of the young Han Solo. In Book One of this exciting new trilogy, the famed rogue, con man, smuggler, and thief struggles to survive on a sinister world where the chief export is slavery.

I was given this book and never really saw the point in reading it. The action that happens is mentioned in some of the Star Wars novels from the 1990's but dropped with the New Jedi Order and books beyond that time period. I'd just read a fan written review or summary if you really need to know.

Unfortunately, I read this one so long ago, I cannot offer a reliable review.
