From Publishers Weekly
Liz Barwick's tranquil life on an island off the Georgia coast turns nightmarish after a tragic secret two decades old is unearthed and her ex-husband, a steroid-crazed NFL star, goes on a murderous rampage. A "fast-paced, multilevel tale of mystery and revenge," said PW. "In a suspenseful--albeit telegraphed--final encounter, one deadly monster destroys another."

The wife of a famous football player is severely battered by him and only the emergency room saves her life. She retreats to an island paradise and becomes involved with the twin sons of a powerful family. Then grusome murders start. A pretty good read.

What a delight....although this is not in the horror genre' that I usually enjoy it was extremely suspenseful with heart pounding excitement. I would call it pyschological horror at its best. Being a woman that has been abused by beatings from my husband this book was even more scary. Just when I had a portion of the plot worked out, it made a quick right and then detoured around to turn out completely different then I figured. Loaded with lots of surprises, lots of suspense and fear and....OH YEAH, BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR GOLIATH! He isn't friendly by any means. He'll make your head spin and, quite likely. fall off your shoulders! Hope you enjoy your trip to Cumberland Island....the ferry is ready to take you there!

I picked this book up last week because I'd started the author's Stone Barrington books and liked them. After getting a couple chapters in, I realized that I'd read it when it first came out over ten years ago, and that I knew how things turned out in the mystery.
But I liked it so much I read it over anyhow! You'll probably do the same.
