Fitch was one of four immigrant brothers from England whose ancestry is covered in great detail in A Fitch Family History. The first settled minister in Saybrook, Conn., James Fitch's two marriages, first into the well-known Whitfield family, and second to Priscilla Mason, produced a total of fourteen children. His American descendants here receive equal coverage to his ancestors in Mr. Fitch's previous book. Rev. Fitch's dealings with the Pequot and Mohegan Indians and the substantial chapters on religion and King Philip's War add to the usefulness of this book. This is one of the few genealogies which are truly appealing to a wider audience than just descendants. This one is a pleasure to read.« less
