This book is marked as a grade 4 reading level, but I think some of the themes are a little mature for that grade. Probably better for girls in about 6th grade. Good book though - entire book is letters between the two friends, making it easy to pick up and read for short bits of time.
I loved this book. It is about two girls (Elizabeth and Tara) who are best friends. Then Tara moves away so they keep intouch through the letters in this book. Tara helps Elizabeth through a terrible struggle as their friendship lasts on
Pre-teen book, read in mother daughter bookclub
This book shows how important friendships are and how they can last, even if they are long distance like Elizabeth and Tara starr's.
Elizabeth and Tara*Starr are totally different. Tara*Starr wears glitter and sequins, loves to be the center of attention, and has two parents who won't grow up.
Elizabeth is shy and quiet, hates being the center of attention, and livese where possessions are more important that feelings.
Of course, Elizabeth and Tara*Starr are best friends, then Tara moves away, and the two girls must continue their friendship through letters. Atfirst this is no problem. Then their lives begin to change-sometimes for the better and sometimes for the much worse. Can they stay best friends forever...or will the distance tear them apart?
