The captured men are never taken out of Vietnam into Cambodia, as the NVA want the search teams to believe, but are marched around to confuse all concerned parties. Though escape would seem impossible Master Sgt. Fetterman holds very different ideas. We are introduced to Captain 'Mack' Gerber, Master Sgt. Tony Fetterman, and newspaper correspondent Robin Morrow, with all three people appearing in most of the books.
