you may have to suspend your imagination (doesn't almost every novel ask you to do that?), but within the confines of the characters she creates and the place where they live, I totally bought the whole thing from beginning to end. Each character has their own distinct voice, which helped to make them really come alive. A definite re-read.

On a tiny island inhabited by generations of proud strong people,Summer Van Vorn is living a life similiar to her mother and grandmother before her-as a healer. She is alone independent, self sufficient.
Until Cameron Divine rescues her from the churning sea and gently intrudes into her solitary life. He is a man of uncanny ability, of mystery..of something larger than life.
Now Summer's courage will be tested and her heart challenged by the passionate demands of a lover. A lover who will open a door to a future that lies beyond everything she's ever known.

Summer is a healer as her mother and grandmother before her. She has lived only one place in her life and is totally alone, which is likes. When she is rescued from the sea by Cameron everything changes. This story kept me guessing as to whether she Summer was of this world and if she would be able to leave her sanctuary safely.

Combine romance with science fiction and you get The Outsider. Interesting. Intriguing.
