From four well-loved authors comes an irresistible collection of short stories that sizzle with raw desire, adventure, and passions as reckless as America's untamed frontier. Titles include Brenda Joyce's "Sundown", Connie Brockway's "Heaven with a Gun", Cait Logan's "Lady Desperado", and Stephanie Mittman's "Wishing for More".

This is a fun, light book for no-brainer reading. There are four novellas included, each of which is perfect for a one-session reading indulgence. The writing is a cut above the usual romance novel, with a bit of wit and a tongue-in-cheek approach to the genre.

I picked up this book because I was interested in two of the stories:

Heaven with a Gun by Connie Brockway: Journalist Jim Coyne has been sent to the far reaches of Texas by his employer to write about life in the American West. His plan to get back to New York and into their good graces is to get the story of a lifetime...an interview with Lightning Lil, a woman who has stolen money from some of the richest men in Texas. Jim has put ads in various papers throughout the state, asking Lil for an interview. He is shocked when she shows up to grant him the interview on one condition...he must let her pose as his wife while she recovers from a gunshot wound.

While entertaining, this story felt way too short. I had a hard time believing that Lil and Jim could fall in love in a matter of days. My rating: 3 Stars.

Wishing for More - Stephanie Mittman: Brothers Moreland and Lesley Rivers are bank robbers. They are well known in Montana territory for robbing banks, asking that the money they take be removed from the account of the Columbia Copper Mine. People in the area really don't have a problem with the River Brothers doing that. But they do have a problem with them taking a female hostage at each robbery. These hostages are never heard from again. That fact puts More and Les right at the top of the most wanted list....especially when their latest hostage is Samantha Maddigan, the sister of Bounty Hunter Carson Maddigan.

I loved this short story. When Samantha stumbles into a hold-up, she didn't plan on this being the best day of her life. Finally, she can have an adventure instead of sitting at home waiting for something to happen. The Rivers brothers want to dump her where her brother can easily find her, but she isn't about to let them go off without her. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
