Another good Joe Pickett story. The only flaws in Box's character is his rotten mother-in-law that everyone becomes heartily SICK of and doesn't want to read any further from earlier books. The second flaw is Joe Pickett's lack of skill with firearms. When is Joe going to wise up and learn to use his weapons and stop relying on the highly exaggerated abilities of Nate to save him over and over. Even the most dimwitted of characters must realize how dangerous his incompetence is. If Nate can teach Shannon about falconry, I think he could teach Joe how to shoot. Or would that be too logical, C.J.? Hmmmm?

This is an action packed thriller with Joe Pickett, the game warden as he tries to discover the circumstances of his friends and fellow game wardens death. Is it suicide or murder?

Excellent crime novel - multilayered, with authentic regional atmosphere (Wyoming) and complex series characters. I did not see the ending coming, which of course makes it all the more satisfying. The plot lines mostly got resolved, leaving some tensions that undoubtedly will get picked up in a future book in this superb and compelling series.
