Out of the Depths
Author: John Newton
(Updated and revised by Dennis R. Hillman)The original and unvarnished account of one of Christianity's most dramatic conversions--the autobiography of John Newton, the author of "Amazing Grace." This is the ultimate, full-length hymn story, as spectacular and compelling today as when it was first written.

John Newton wrote some of the most heart-felt words when he wrote "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me." Following the death of his mother when he was very young, and after years of rough living on cargo and slave ships, John Newton was by his own definition, a wretch. Nevertheless, his mother's early lessons in Biblical scripture were not wasted time. The Lord rescued John Newton out of the depths of his life of rebellion. What a testimony!
