Real good account of the beginings of California becoming part of the USA. Nancy Kelsey was the first caucasion woman to make it to CA. She mostly walked from Missouri to homestead in a better place. By the time she got there she had no shoes, no livestock, one shredded dress, a husband and baby. She had 2 stillborn babies on the way. What a woman!

A very interesting and quick read. It amazed me to picture in my mind all the things this woman lived through. Definitely worth pausing to read and reflect upon!
