I was forced to read this book in advanced poetry writing at school. Wait, let me rephrase that, I was forced to read, then write a synopsis and reflection on every chapter of this book. I've read it so closely, that at times I wanted to gouge my eyes out. That being said, if you have serious bouts of writer's block, this book will help you get through that. There are moments when Addonizio will seriously test your patience with her endless babble about herself and her poetry. WE DON'T CARE. Just say what you're going to say and give the exercise. If you get this book, I recommend that you mark the pages with the exercises that you think will be useful when you first read through it. This way you don't get stuck rereading through a bunch of senseless jibber jabber to get to the parts needed.
