I think it conflates life and football too much. (If they were perfectly honest, the authors would admit that the Raiders and the Patriots are paragons of American values.) They do an interesting review of the NFL-AFL battles of the late 50s and 60s. I learned that the Chargers were really named for Hilton's credit card company, which somehow fits the team better.
