There are so many things you don't know about Carol until you read this. Worth the effort.

A great read by one of America's favorite comedic actresses. A truly inspiring story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was a very interesting book learning about how Carol Burnett grew up and what she dealt with. I thought it quite insightful and towards the last few chapters found it hard to put down. It shows the hard work it took for her to become the extraordinary comedy talent she is.

I enjoyed this book. An excellent style of writing, telling about her life at an early age. She had many ups and downs and her grandmother had a lot of influence on her life. She set her goal and followed through, and as they say the rest is history.

Loved it!!
This was a different Carol Burnett. You really get to "meet" her family, and see how she became the Carol that we watched on tv each week.
Great book
This book began as a letter to her three daughters, about her own childhood.
From the dustjacket: "Carol Burnett was born in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up in Hollywood. But her Hollywood was not the Hollywood of America's dreams. Carol Burnett's Hollywood was an old apartment house in a Depresion-scarred neighborhood where she lived in a single cluttered room with her grandmother, a hypochondriacal Christian Scientist with a buried past. The room featured an immovable Murphy bed, an ill-equipped kitchen and a bathroom whose shower rod doubled as the closet. Her parents were divorced and both were alcoholics. Her mother lived in another single room down the hall. Her father lived somewhere else. The family was on relief.
That was reality from the outside. But Carol Burnett never experienced it that way. Her broken fmaily was HER family, the source of security, courage and love; her beautiful well-meaning, naively ambitious mother; her gentle, ineffectual father; her manipulative, always loving grandmother; and her sister, Chrissy, raised largely by Carol, who remains amoung Carol's closest friends. ONE MORE TIME is the candid story of how Carol Burnett grew up in this family, how it shaped her, and of the nearly miraculous circumstances that helped her talent flourish, propelling her from these unpromising beginnings to the threshold of fame."
