Although I read this book quickly to the end, it never really grabbed me. My overwhelming impression was that the book was contrived, in the worst sense of the word. That is, the author started by saying to herself, now what if I wrote a novel where... The book did not develop from an image or from a certain emotion, just from a vague premise. From there the author filled in the blanks with cartoony characters and a plot that was rather predictable in its arc.

Definitely not a book I'd recommend to my friends.
