Tremendous children's book with great illustrations of each scene .
Wonderful pictures. Adorable story. A lost tooth, a loving family, a beautiful location and humor too.
My children love this book-it is a bit long (about 20 minutes of reading) but a wonderful simple story about a little girl losing her first tooth and details of her family life.
First published in 1952, this is a nostalgic look at a Maine home and it's people.
This book was first published in 1949: it shows a vintage Maine home and family....
Beautiful book. Two little girls from a rural area in Maine in the 1930s or so help their father dig up clams on the beach near their home and then go with him to pick up supplies in the nearest town, a boat ride away. A lost tooth, ice cream cones, feeling proud to be big enough to go to town . . . and then coming home to mom and a special lunch. Warm, charming, and a wonderful story.
As we follow the story of Sal and his lost tooth we feel as refreshed as though we had spent a day with his family on their island
