Motivated by her grandfather's funeral, Brynn once again presses her mother for information about the identity of her father. But Maya's fragile psyche threatens to break apart for good as she becomes more and more agitated by her daughter's questions. Having long suffered from posttraumatic stress disorder and an alternate personality, Maya tries to mask the emotional pain and dull the memories through drugs and promiscuity. Now, the perfect storm of her abuser's funeral and her daughter's questions may prove too much for Maya to handle.

Meanwhile, Mysha, Brynn's younger sister is fighting a battle of her own as her grandfather's death dredges up a slew of conflicting and disturbing memories that she thought she had successfully kept hidden and compartmentalized. As her sister Brynn unravels before her eyes, Mysha clings harder to fighting the sense of loss and despair she feels consuming her.

Skye, meanwhile, tries her best to distract both her nieces from wanting to learn the truth. Although able to build a somewhat normal life despite her traumatic childhood, Skye struggled with an emotionally abusive ex-husband and serious trust issues and prefers things in her life to stay the same, but instead, the death of her father propels her once again into a spiral of shame and doubt. Surrounded by her dysfunctional family, she has a difficult time trying to remove herself from the growing family drama that is building and threatening to implode.

Maya and Skye's brother, Gavin, has no idea that either one of his sisters had been sexually abused at the hands of the man he so admired while growing up. But his wife, Zoe, had always sensed something was not quite right with the old man. She sees many of his controlling traits in her own husband, but Zoe is determined to keep a firm handle on their relationship--until she discovers a devastating secret that forces her to confront her own marriage.

As Brynn moves dangerously closer to uncovering her father's identity, the question remains: Can this family survive the truth?
