A friend loaned this book to me as a good vacation read. I was heading overseas and needed something to read on the plane. I would label this as a contemporary love story. Anglophiles will enjoy the book as the setting is London. It was a fun story and an interesting perspective as it covered 20 years in the lives of two very close friends (Em and Dex, Dex and Em). We get to see the two characters evolve and learn from their life experiences. I even shed a tear or two while on the plane. I enjoyed the book and if you enjoy novels about relationships you will enjoy One Day. It is an easy read and starts off in an interesting way that will not bore you.

I was looking for a love story and couldn't get into this one...it is an improbable story of two incompatible people who had a one night stand and dragged it out for 20 years...there was nothing in the initial meeting of the two that would suggest a long-term relationship, and if that had been explored more in-depth, perhaps the premise would be more acceptable to me.
I never write reviews...I had to for this book. It was wonderful! Gets a tiny bit slow in the middle...but hang in there! it's well worth it!
Just a warning: despite the marketing, this is not a feel-good romance. I cannot recommend a book with the type of manipulatuve and abrupt plot twist this one has near the end.
