Recipe for a perfect Christmas read:
⢠Bestselling author, (in my own humble opinion, best romantic comedy writer) Sheila Roberts
⢠Two retired widows
⢠Two sisters sans one lame spouse
⢠Two brothers, one of which is escorting his high school German class and the other, which owns a chocolate company
⢠A retired doctor along with his over-protective daughter
⢠A little Christmas magic and Glühwein
Put them on a week-long cruise through the Netherlands and Germany along the Rhine River and stir . . . gently.
Denise and her best friend Catherine are widows. Denise is out to have some fun. Catherine, spoils her children and they ignore her. Or do they? Catherine will face some challenges in the new year and Denise invites her along on the cruise perhaps to help her take her mind of those challenges, even for a short while. Sierra has booked a cruise as a surprise Christmas gift for her husband and herself. He begs off using a lack of vacation time and work as an excuse So, she invites her hypochondriac sister, Sophie to go along. Sophie decides she needs to meet a doctor. Kurt is taking his German class on a week-long river cruise, and twists his brother Trevor's arm into going along. Trevor owns Cupid's Chocolates and mistakenly gives one to Heather, one of Kurt's students who starts to follow Trevor around like starving puppy. Add in retired doctor Rudy and his guard-dog daughter, Athena. What could possibly go right? Or wrong?
Well, I just finished reading One Charmed Christmas by Sheila Roberts. Given the last year we've had, there's nothing better than a little bit of an escape. And let's face it, Ms. Roberts has a way with making books, aka stories, come alive which is just pure magic. She manages to see the humor in everyday lives and relationships in an eerily similar way to what I do. I suspect that my family, in particular, my father's first visit to Germany to see his son, could supply her with enough fodder for a lifetime of books. Be sure to read this one and soon!
I am a HUGE fan of Sheila Roberts, ever since I picked up and read Small Change in 2010. I have since read practically every book she's written. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm on Ms. Roberts' street team.
