Good news! Zebra Books is reissuing the early Shannon Drake classics. Fans will recognize Shannon (who also writes as Heather Graham and Heather Graham Possezzere) and her husband Dennis on the cover. This is the second time the couple have posed for one of Shannon's books. Beautifully written and incredibly complex, Ondine is set in England during the reign of Charles II. It offers readers everything from political intrigue, divided loyalties, treachery, and revenge, to sweet love and stronger bonds while weaving throughout the mythology of the undine water nymph as well as articulating the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.
As always, Shannon Drake gave us another terrific read! :)
When handsome Lord Chatham rescued Ondine from England's gallows, he demanded only one thing in return--her hand in marriage.
You will never find another historical romance as good as Ondine. With in depth characterization and a plot that is unlike any other romance novel I've ever read, this book is top notch. Also, this book shows that romance novels are not just women sighing over men, and men being barbarians, it shows that two people who love each other can and will work things out in the end, no matter how much they seem to hate each other in the beginning...or something like that....
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that Shannon Drake definately delivers with this extraordinary novel of romance and intrigue with a well thought out plot and great writing.

Ondine is a breathtaking tale as intricately woven as a tapestry--the classic story of a mysterious lady condemned to die, and the lord destined to save her. I could not put this book down without going back and picking it up again until I had finished it.
One she'd been a pampered lady. Then she became an innocent pawn in a terrible game of power and influense. Now with a noose around her neck, Ondeline was to hang before she had the chance to find the traitor who had been her noble father's killer... before she had a chance to love.
Lord Chatham had been called a beast. His eyes hard as silver, his will as strong as steel. He had ann the mistresses a man could want, but for his own secret purpose of revenge, he needed a wife. A quirk of fate brought him to the gallows, a flash of destiny made him claim the condemned Ondline as his bride.
Swept up in the intrigues of Charles II's opulent court, surrounded by enemies, neither Ondline nor Chatham expected to find a passion to quell a man's furies, fulfill a woman's deepest desires, and unite them - body, heart and soul.

interesting storyline with lot of historical detail.
I found this among my mother's shelves of paperbacks and was surprisingly impressed. The characters are well developed and their flaws make them frustrating and likable at the same time. The plot is unique and engaging. One of my favorite Shannon Drake/Heather Graham books, by far, and highly recommended.
Lord Chatam needed a wife, for revenge.Ondine, once a pampered lady became a helpless pawn with a noose around her neck.A flash of destiny made him claim the condemned Ondine for his bride.
I liked this book full of intrigue, romance, strife, vengence, action, more romance.
