The Christmas Market is special. It appears every Dec and disappears on Christmas Eve until the following year. It also doesn't show up in the same place every year. But, I thought it was a bit strange that with all the cities in the world it would show up in the same place multiple times in the last 10 years. The story is told both in present and flashbacks to various Christmases in the past where Astra and Jack interact.
I thought Astra was a doormat when it came to the ex-husband (Trent). I mean really? She is 37 and should not be putting up with that shit. I did have a hard time understanding what made Astra special in Jack's eye. They don't spend that much time together when it's all said and done. I did think this book did female friendships very well. It was annoying when Jack assumed that Astra would be the one to move (and give up her job, family, friends, etc) and not Jack. But I will say the direction this book took in addressing that gets props for that resolution.
