It pains me to say it but this is a very forgettable story. I read the story a month ago and when I realized Id neglected to write a review, I had to look at what others wrote to remember anything about the book.
After the way Lady Ophelia behaved in the beginning, I found her hard to like. I could see why Drake was tempted to exact revenge on her (when she lost her memory) by claiming she was his servant. However, Drake lost my support when he maintained the fiction for so long.
Frankly, Im not particularly interested in amnesia stories; they seem too contrived and unrealistic. Obviously, Lady Ophelia and Drake brought out the worst in each other in the opening scenes. I was glad to see that Drakes conscience bothered him during his use of Ophelia as his servant. However, it did not seem to bother him enough to cause him to tell her the truth. This is not one of Lorraine Heaths best books.
