Balkoski's book gives the background, overview, then the execution the plans for this invasion beach for D-Day, June 6, 1944. His research is impeccable, drawn from many original sources plus hours spent interviewing the men who were there. As a writing teacher, I found his use of language inspiring to my students. It is clear, varied, and honed as sharp as fine steel blade.
