Robert James Waller began the material in this book in the summer of 1983. He didn't set out to be a writer. He just needed to put down on paper his feelings about the people, animals, and places he cared about.
A work of nonfiction, this book lets you into the mind and world of Robert James Waller.

If nothing else, this man can weave a picture with words in a way that puts you right there. "Old Songs" is a collection of short stories Waller wrote while living in Iowa. They run from thoughts when he and his wife were cleaning out their daughter's room after she had left home, to his views on travel and why it can stir your soul. This one will stay on my library shelf!
