Mark Twain's definition of a classic: "A book which people praise and don't read."
THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA may be considered one of the great literary classics, but personally, I wish I never had to read this book. It can be summed up in a few sentences:
Let's go fishing. Ouch, hand, why do you cramp up on me? Oh, look, a giant fish! I wish Manolin was here. This giant fish is dragging me out to sea! I wonder what Joe DiMaggio is doing right now...
In my opinion, it's 130 pages of a waste of your time. I'm sorry, Hemingway...
