An old house doesn't have a family any longer. It does have wildflowers, bird nests, and a tree. They all try to cheer him up. A family comes and looks at the house, but leave. The house is depressed until the family comes back. He straightens up and tries to look his best. The family leaves and the house is sure he is going to be demolished. But the family returns and soon the house has a new coat of paint.

Why I recommend it: The illustrator has a knack of making the house look sad. It's sweet how everyone tries to cheer the house up.
