One of the best post WWII Cop/Spy Brit Books I've read in many years. Good enough to make me want to get and read the rest of Lawton's books. The characterization was exellent giving the reader a visual of the people and places without being over done..There's realistic emotiuonal reactions ..and enough sex and violence to keep it spicy..If there is a drawback ..there are a lot of characters who are interacting ,and some are spies, some are criminals and some of these are also spooks and cops. And some are both or neither..
