A good beach read is how I'd describe this romantic mystery. To me, the ties that bound Tea Caruso to her mobster family (and the ways she kept trying to break those ties) were the best bits of the book. Sadly, I had the "mystery" solved not more than halfway through, but it held my interest 'till the end regardless.
I thought this was a great read and had some twists I was not expecting. Enjoy!
I'm very surprised I hated this book because I enjoy Ridgway quite a bit. I think this is the first book I read by her that I couldn't finish. So if this is your first book by Ridgway and you didn't like it, give something else by her try. She is usually better.
I found the book very boring. I didn't like either characters, especially with both of them running hot and cold. Tea had too many hang-ups about herself. And really, would you trust an interior designer who dressed badly?
"Bad boy" Johnny sounded like Fred from "Scooby Doo" so he didn't do it for me at all. After reading the prequel with Michael (now that one was a bad boy), I'm doubly disappointed.
There wasn't much of a plot and it moved so slowly. The humor wasn't there, just two insecure people having fits about themselves (and this includes side characters as well) and going around in circles. I couldn't understand if Johnny was there to find out what happened or he wanted revenge. I thought it was revenge at first but for someone who can best casinos, his plan wasn't very well thought out. In fact, after reading half the book I'm still not sure what his plan was. The mystery aspect of it wasn't developed enough to keep my interest.
Very poorly done book. Halfway through I felt like I was wasting my time and didn't continue. I will still read the third book though just to see.

Ridgway (The Thrill of It All) leaves enough loose ends dangling to swing one of Téa's sisters into her own sequel, and readers who enjoyed this solidly written tale will certainly return for the continuing drama.
I enjoyed this book. Very light read but still had a few twists and turns that had you guessing until the end. Had some sexy scenes and Johnny Magee was a real sweetheart. He was a perfect match for Tea Caruso or maybe I should say he met his match with Tea because she could certainly put him in his place. LOL. I also read the follow-up book The Care and Feeding of Unmarried Men which was about Eve Caruso and enjoyed it as well. I definitely think Ms. Ridgway should write about the last sister, Joey. If you like a little romance with a little mafia thrown in and a few laughs you will like this book.
