One of the better Prey books. This one features both Lucas and Virgil Flowers, who star in the first and second halves of the book, respectively. The pace flagged about a third of the way in, but stick with it because the second half is really interesting - a lot about diving, related to a clever drug-running method - and the last section is quite exciting.

I was looking forward to reading about Davenport and Flowers back together again. I've often said that Sandford's Prey novels are like potato chips for me. Nice, tasty stories that you can crunch up fast, enjoyable but easily forgettable. This one shouldn't be any different but for the first time, as the novel progressed I got bored. After the major event that happened about 1/3 through (and I saw that coming), it was like all the tension evaporated. The entire setup with Virgil on the boat with the drug guys should be fraught with danger, and yet I was bored. I thought for sure that Sandford was going to set up something really spectactular with Virgil underwater but nothing happened. The end bit on the boat, which should have been a nail-biter, was over so fast I thought there must be more to come. The other half of the team, with Lucas tracking down the Big Bad Guy, wasn't really exciting either. Well maybe it was just me, I see an awful lot of 5-star reviews other places. It was still a fast read, I liked the plot setup (and I loved the Coast Guard guy, he should have been used more), and it's interesting to see that all Davenport's friends now admit he's a vigilante.

Interesting as all his books are, the characters may be getting a little long in the tooth but still a fun read.

Great read with Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers. I actually cried while reading this book because something happened to one of the main characters. This book does not disappoint.
