I know I read this book in high school, but couldn't really remember much about it. After trying to read it a second time, I think the reason may be that the story just wasn't that great. The vampire in this book has a series case of the cliches with his sleeping in a coffin, being a recluse and his angst from being alone. The lead female just got so corny and acted like such a twit that I wanted to smack her. I couldn't get past 70 pages just because I know there's better things to read out there.
I love Paranormal Vampire Romance. This is the first book in a series where the Hero - David de Morrissey, a vampire - is the same with different love interests in each book. The Heroine is Veronica Ames. The author's approach reminds me of A.Rice's view of vampires. It's more practical and realistic.
All her life, Veronica dreamed of a lover who would take her and thrill her to the very limits of her body and soul. Other men desired her, but none could match the overpowering figure who haunted her imagination..
David de Morrissey is everything she's waited for. Cultured, romantic, commanding. In his arms, she finds happiness and sensual fulfillment, surpassing her most fervent dreams.
But there is a dark side to David, an unholy secret that frightens her even as it draws her irrestibly closer.
