This is a truly original work of fiction, with extremely quirky characters, in a rather strange but provocative book. I found this novel quite interesting, especially in its themes about human differences and human isolation because of them. I devoured it, but slowly, so that I could get everything I could from every word. The main character's job in life is to be a "living statue," both as a street performer and a wax-museum dummy. I learned a lot about what it means to risk, just from the protagenist's occupation of risking nothing. A great read!

This is a very strange but engaging look into the lives of some curious people.

This was one of the most original and weirdest books I've read in a long time and I couldn't put it down! If you're looking for something different, this is your book. It's a tragic short of story with a happish ending. I'm shocked with everyone else that this is Edward Carey's first book. I can't wait to see what else he has done.
