This was a beautiful book. It had a lot to do with compassion, and
I admired it for that.

Helena is a woman with a bad leg, due to polio from childhood.
She had just enough gritty determination to rehabilitate herself
(along with her sister Rosalind's help), and regained use of her
other leg. However, Helena suffers from insecurity, due to the
bum leg. Once, a suitor rejected her, just because of this
impediment. She took it to heart, and she spends most of the
book trying to loosen up & overcome this obstical, more mental
than anything else.

Daniel is a man with a once shady past. When Helena comes to
him for help, he is a bit unsure at first, but when her story
of her sister Juliet's abduction unfolds, he can't help but want
to help. Especially, since he has been attracted to Helena for
some time now (see "A Dangerous Love", the first book in the
series).

The two set off on a journey to find Juliet, who suppossedly
has eloped. It does not take long to uncover that she has not
eloped, but actually been kidnapped, not for ransom, but for
information about the arrival of a certain ship. During their
journey, Daniel succeeds in breaking down Helena's barriers about
her leg. He tells her what a fool the other suitor was. She
gains self confidence, and the two fall in love.

This was a wonderful story and an excellent sequel to A Dangerous Love. The characters, Daniel and Helena, began their relationship in the previous book, so it was very easy to understand their motivations, flaws, and behavior. They had real problems (physical and emotional) that made their story very poignant. I loved their story and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. If you liked A Dangerous Love, you will love this book.

Entertaining book although the foreshadowing at the beginning of each chapter took out any element of surprise. Helena's adroit use of cane (because of her trouble walking) was used very well in sticky situations.

Lady Helena needs help so she turns to Daniel Brennan; she is forced to masquerade as his wife and finds it dangerously appealing.

the second inthe swanlea spinsters books this one is all about the slightly rough man of bussiness and the second sister from a dangerous love. the third sister has run off with a rogue and it is up to the second sister to rescue her, but first she must beg the help of the man who tricked her and who she had started to fall for when he was in disuise so that he could help his employer and friend get to know the eldest swanlea sister. I kind of dont like that they call this series the swanlea spinsters sometimes because the girls are not old at all. but the books are entertaining and fun all the same
