Ms. Rose is a suspense author that you should add to your "must read" list. This lady can create characters and storylines that will leave you with goosebumps and chills, but warm you with a wonderfully touching romance!
This was a chilling read. Ms. Rose has created a villian that will make the reader shudder. At the same time there are so many twists and turns you'll be sitting on the edge of your chair waiting for the other shoe to drop! Needless to say this was fast paced read and one that was highly entertaining! The romance between Ethan and Dana was realistic and...romantic. We meet up again with Caro and Max ("Dont' Tell) and Detective Abe Reagan (I'm Watching You") in this action packed read. If you are a fan of romantic suspense Ms. Rose is the author for you!

I honestly could not finish this book. Seriously - I had to put it down because it was so awful. It was almost like two completely different people were writing the story. It had sappy, sleezy, stick-your-finger-down-your-throat stabs at romance. Then it would abruptly take the reader into a knock-your-socks-off suspense scenario. And I'm not talking about in a good way. I finally put the book down for good when the serial killer/child abductor whacked off some guy's private parts that was delivered with the same finesse as if you were reading how to chop up a roast chicken. I have no idea if the kid or anyone else made it out alive, because this book was just too yucky to finish.

Whoa, very creepy villain in this one. As always, Karen Rose keeps the reader on their toes anticipating how much farther the bad guy, or gal in this case, will go. Excellent book!

Author Karen Rose jumped on my favorite authors list with her first release back in 2003, DON'T TELL. With her latest release, NOTHING TO FEAR, she's impressed me so much that I'll be buying her books as long as she keeps writing them. Romantic suspense has always been, and will undoubtedly continue to be, my favorite genre, and no one does it better than Ms. Rose. Heart-pounding action, hard-core suspense, passionate romance, and characters that pull you into the story are her trademarks, and NOTHING TO FEAR has all of that, and more.
In the first chapter of the book, you know what happens, and you know who does it. What you don't know, and don't find out for quite awhile, is why the bad guys go to the length of evil that they do to terrorize one particular family. And finding that out is worth the read.
Stan and Randi Vaughn have had their worst nightmares come to life. Their son, twelve-year-old Alex, has been kidnapped. It's bad enough that the boy is probably scared to death, but he's also deaf, so his terror is even more palpable. Having already witnessed the murder of Paul McMillan, the fiance of his speech therapist, Cheryl Rickman, Alex is thrust into running for his life with a mad-woman. Yes, in this story, the villain is a woman, and a truly insane one, at that. Now Cheryl has been murdered in cold blood and dumped by the roadside, and it's up to Alex to keep his wits and stay alive.
Alex's parents have called on Ethan Buchanan, a security expert with a private investigator's license, to find and rescue their son. Ethan stresses to the distraught parents that he's not a policeman, but Stan and Randi are adamant-the ransom note left behind after Alex's disappearance states that the authorities are not to be involved, or their son will end up like Paul McMillan. Taking the kidnappers at their word, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn convince Ethan to search for Alex-and his investigation takes him to a train station in Chicago in the middle of the night to look at security surveillance tapes.
While there, Ethan takes notice of Dana Dupinsky, a woman who seems to have secrets of her own. Why is she hanging around a train station in the dead of night? Why does she look so nervous, and act as if he's the devil incarnate? And why do sparks fly between him and this woman he's just met?
Dana has secrets of her own, the first and foremost being that she runs Hanover House, a shelter for abused women. Dana's goal in life is to rescue as many needy women and children as possible, and to help them escape the lives of terror that they led. Now, though, there's a murderer within the walls of her sanctuary, and she doesn't even know it.
As Ethan's mission coincides with Dana's, and as bodies start piling up in Chicago, this man and woman learn that trust is earned, that love runs deep, and that rescuing a child from danger is the most important job of all.
NOTHING TO FEAR is an absolute gem. It's definitely earned a place on my keeper shelf, and I look forward to reading it again and again. This is what true romantic suspense is all about, and I thank Ms. Rose for such a wonderful read.

I have loved all of Karen Rose's books. She keeps you in suspense and your always guessing till the end. She also adds romance well without over doing it and turning it into a D.S novel. Her characters are ones you can relate to in some way.
I loved this book. It was original, had great characters, plot twists and a decent ending that wrapped it all together.
This is my fourth Karen Rose romantic suspense novel and by far, this one is my favorite. With this story, the author delivers characters that come alive within the pages. Several scenes in the story even brought me to tears in addition to the heart racing adrenaline. The author has created a villain so vile and evil that wishing her dead doesnt begin to describe the level of emotion I felt while reading this book. Maybe because one of her victims is a deaf and mute child and the cruelty she demonstrates in her quest of personal revenge goes beyond appalling.
As with so many other series, characters from the previous books make an appearance and it was great to see them again and to catch up with what has been happening in their lives since I read their stories.
I loved Dana. Besides being compassionate and caring, which is so important if you are going to shelter battered women, Dana is hiding secrets about herself. She isnt perfect, she isnt an angel. Shes had her own trail of misdeeds and continues to take risks to help the residents of Hanover House begin new lives.
I loved Ethan. He carries tremendous amounts of guilt over the death of his best friend, Richard when they were stationed in Afghanistan. Because of the injuries he received in combat, he suffers debilitating migraines and having to depend on others isnt something that is easy for him.
Dana and Ethan are two souls who need each other but dont want to, who come together in their mutual desire to protect an innocent helpless child. Their individual human weaknesses make them stronger people when they are together than when they are apart.
Romance fans who enjoy their books with suspense and high octane action and adrenaline charged scenes will enjoy Karen Roses novels.

Dana runs a women's shelter. Ethan is searching for his kidnapped godson. The two are drawn together and must work as a team to solve mysteries in both of their lives. Dana, from Rose's "Don't Tell," is the center of the story and although you don't need to read "Don't Tell" first, we do see the reemergence of some of the same characters. Abe from Rose's "I'm Watching You" also appears in this book. Good read, nice love story, decent thriller.
Karen Rose's books are suspenseful, exciting and just overall great. They never disappoint!

This is Karen Rose's fourth book and they just keep getting better and better. This story is well plotted with lots of twists and turns. We usually don't see many female villains. Rose has created a convincing killer in Sue Conway. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. My rating: 5 Stars.

I really enjoyed this book. It was fast-paced and had some really interesting characters. This is part of a series, and the first one that I have read, so I have to go back and catch up on everyone else. Karen Rose is a errific author and I love that she is a normal high school teacher in her "regular life".
I couldn't finish this one fast enough. I highly reccomend this book.
