Author: Bill Bryson
When an old friend asked him to write a weekly dispatch from New Hampshire for the Mail on Sunday's Night & Day magazine, Bill bryson firmly turned him down. So firm was he, in fact, that gathered here are 19 month's wroth of his popular columns about the strangest of phenomena- the American way of life.

A collection of humorous columns that were written for a British weekly from the US after the author returned to the US after living in Great Britain for 20 years. British publication.

I love Bill Bryson's writing, although this isn't my very favorite. This book is a series of columns he wrote describing his return from England to American life for a British magazine. The length of the columns makes this a quick read, but gives Bill an Andy Rooney cranky-old-man quality, athough I'll say it's like Andy Rooney back when I thought he was funny.
