Steven Tyler asks: Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? And the answer to that is why yes, it does. While I do like Steven Tyler, he is a local hero to me after all, this book was not what I expected in the least. What I took away from this was that yes, indeed Mr. Tyler does know music. However many times the he comes off as egotistical and pompous, and in many parts he bad mouthed the people that helped get him to the top. I felt like I learned more about illegal substance and pharmacology than I did about the inner workings of the band. The book was poorly written, and in many parts I felt like I was reading the drunken ramblings of a homeless guy who I would normally encounter on the subway. This book could have been much better if Mr. Tyler would had done 3 simple things - wrote an outline, put the book in chronological order and finally hired an editor that was familiar with the rock and roll memoir and who cared about the cohesiveness of the final product. Again, I do still like Steven Tyler, but I do not like his writing, or the "noise in his head"

WOW. I thought I had read about substance abuse....Steven Tyler writes candidly about his past escapades, leaving no room for doubt about his feelings toward fellow band members, managers, and more. Tyler's voice is there. You can hear him talking in every line. His humor is everpresent throughout, spiced with his "Tylerisms" and bawdy language. You will find yourself jotting down song titles by other artists--blues!!--that Tyler swears by. It's a wild ride, but it's worth taking.

Lotsa "F"-bombs. Lotsa swearing, period. Enjoyable to me just to browse thru ... also pictures in 2 sections very enjoyable to view. I didn't read the whole thing, but probably 60%, which was enough to get the flavor. Biggest surprise was where Steven was from!!!
