Dr. Jane tricks a man into getting her pregnant. Hilarity ensues as it turns out he is outraged by her action, does not feel he can trust her and wants to be part of his child's life. SEP's writing is stronger than this book's storyline -- and if anyone can sell a love story about an ethically challenged supergenius who gets pregnant, it is she. (But this is just a dolled up fantasy version of the old chestnut of a woman who tricks a man into sex so she can get pregnant, not to mention that you a supergenius should know that a high IQ parent plus a low or normal IQ parent doesn't equal a normal IQ kid -- it's not like mixing red and yellow to get oranage.)

I thought this book had alot of charm and wit. More than a few times I caught myself laughing out loud.

I did not like this book at first. I felt uncomfortable with the situation and Cal's response, I felt, was extreme. But then they go to his hometown, and finally Jane finds her family in the Bonners. After Cal stops being an ass, he's okay but I could read and reread the relationships she develops with Cal's Granny and towards the end, Cal's mom. This story has a strong "nothing is what it seems" theme. We all have a story, it's just too bad we can't all go to Heartbreak Mountain and sit with Annie, grow a garden, dance to Rod Stewart and think things through.
SEP is one of the few women authors who do not write other female characters as the enemy! (As mom of 2 daughters, I do not want to read about warring females! ) She is always a pleasure to read!(even if Cal was an ass in the beginning)

This book is about a prudish professor named Jane, who wants a Baby and will go to all lengths to find the perfect father. You will really grow to love the main character, dispite her crazy schemes. I found this book fun and entertaining, full of passion and surprises.

Was really looking forward to reading this book but had to skip over to the last couple of pages as the constant fighting between the two main characters was wearing me out..........they went on and on and on, probably for the first 250 pages. Great concept for a story, but I had to give up trying to finish it. Well actually, as I said, I cheated and did find out the ending........so terribly predictable. The bickering got me down.

One of the best books of all! I think every woman thinking of babies in any way shape or form should read this book. I laughed very hard at some of the predicaments the heroine found herself in. Very unique story telling and the first book I ever read by this author. I haven't missed any of her other stories. She's one of the best. This is my favorite, though. Don't miss the sequel or followup book about the brother. Too, too good. Don't miss it.

Lonely, single, and 34, brainy physicist Jane Darlington is determined to have a baby?even if she has to pretend to be a hooker (and a "birthday present" for football star Cal Bonner) to do it. She doesn't expect, however, that her quarterback is a whole lot smarter than Jane had hoped, definitely more honorable than she had expected, and simply won't take no for an answer. Although the initial premise (while funny) is a stretch, the protagonists are strong and appealing and draw the readers into a sensual, heartwarming story that is graced with some interesting secondary characters, including a savvy backwoods grandmother with ideas of her own.

Genius Physics Professor Dr. Jane Darlington desperately wants a baby. Believing her own miserable childhood was caused by her genius IQ, Jane wants the father to be less intelligent than her in hopes the child won't feel like a freak as she did. She needs someone...stupid. When Jane sees Cal Bonner, Quarterback for the Chicago Stars, giving an interview on television, he seems like the perfect choice. Jane learns too late that Cal Bonner is not the dumb jock he pretends to be. Cal is not about to be used as a sperm-donor. When he discovers her plan he is livid. He announces that they will be getting married and he will be part of the baby's life. This was certainly not part of Jane's plan.
Wow, the plot may be a bit unbelievable but this story still works. There is incredible chemistry, lots of humor, and great characters. Not only do we have Jane and Cal's story, but there is a secondary romance that was very satisfying. I first read this book 10 years ago. This time I listened to the audio. It's still a fantastic book that holds up with time. My rating: 5 Stars.

Such a cute story! Nobody's Baby But Mine is one of the Chicago Stars series. Jane is too smart for her own good, and upon her birthday decides that her biological clock is ticking. She wants a baby, but with a dumb jock so that her baby won't be bullied for being too smart as she was. Cal is one of the Chicago Stars players and gets a "gift" from his teammates: Jane. These two opposites attract, and SEP continues to wow the readers with another witty romance.

Another wonderful SEP about the Chicago Stars this time, Cal Bonner, quarterback to the stars. Funny match up of what appears to be a big dumb ole' hunky country boy and a reserved genius physics professor who hears the baby clock ticking. Great quirky characters, feels like you're right there in the story with them.
Professor Dr. Jane Darlington wants a baby. Finding a father won't be easy. Jane's super intelligence made her feel like a freak when she was growing up and she's determined to spare her own child that suffering. That means she must find someone very special to father her child. Someone like Cal Boner, Chicago Stars quarterback. His good looks and down home ways are deciving. Dr. Jane learns too late that this good ol boy is a lot smarter than he lets on--and he's not about to be used and abandoned by a brainy schemer.
I wasn't sure what I thought about this story for the first chapter or two. It was told from the perspective of someone not really involved in the story and while it was a good way to handle the exposition, it also left me not really caring about anyone or getting really involved in the story. As the story progressed, our 180 IQ heroine does so many morally questionable and socially stupid things, it was difficult to like her. Then the hero was kind of a 18th century jerk and I couldn't see any appeal to anyone. However I finally realized that some of this was the mating dance, and the story was actually quite engaging, to the point I stayed up most of the night to finish the book. Susan Elizabeth Phillips delivered a lot of surprises, some interesting facts, charming characters, and a fun, very entertaining story.

Totally a fun book to read. A brain, genius lady longs to be a mom but she thinks she has no social skills so she enters into a scheme to get impregnated by what she thinks is a "dumb jock" football player. Well, it all backfires when he finds out and it gets really interesting after that. Add in some marital problems his parents are having and you have a good story. Many laughs and an enjoyable book.
